Monday-Tuesday Update

Hey friends,

Sorry I'm a little behind. Even though I've been sitting in a hospital for nearly a week straight, it's hard to find to just sit and concentrate on writing a blog. There are always nurses and doctors coming in and talking to us about Rockwell. So I'll cut to the chase and then elaborate on details afterwards.

They moved Rock out of the PICU and upstairs into the infant unit today!! This is great news. I think we'll probably get discharged today (Wednesday)! Ever since last night he's just been totally alert, playful and his regular ol self. Well.... almost. He;s still a little weak. What it all comes down to is Asthma. Severe Asthma, is what they've called it. However, it's actually hard to even diagnose it to a kid under 2 so instead they call it Reactive Airway Disease. They've taken out all 3 of the IVs (One in his groin, wrist and arm) even though they moved the one from his arm to his foot yesterday, but then that turned out crappy so they took the foot one out tonight. Only downside is that they will have to put another needle in him tomorrow. Poor kiddo.

They are great here at Primary Children's, we love them :) My favorite nurse was Liz! She's probably reading this because she told me she googled my blog... what a creeper! Haha just kidding Liz, I too creep. Ain't no shame!! But I hooked her up with some Renee's Naturals product (awesome soaps and what have you that my mother in law makes, check it out on FB, you WILL want some!)

Also Rock has lost a little weight since being here and his eyes are kinda sunken in with dark circles. You can tell he's been a tough kid! But that will get better with rest, medicine and FOOD! Well maybe not too much food. We fed him like 3 bottles today because he seemed to be doing really well and then at about 6:00 he just puked EVERYWHERE. It was so sad, I've never seen him puke before! And it was a lot too! This also happened at about 10:00 as well. So we've just gotta be super careful with how much we let him have because I think his belly shrunk it just cant handle what it use to right now.

I can't remember if I said this but he also has phenomia and rhinovirus. Except rhinovirus is pretty much the common cold so no biggie there. So he's really just dealing with a lot while we're educating ourselves how to take care of his asthma and keep it under control so we don't end back up here! Even though we love the staff.... sick kids are just no fun! I keep forgetting that I'm in a place full of them and it really puts things in perspective when I see or hear what other children and families are going through.

Well I can't quite think of anything else to say at the moment except that Im all cozy and and don't want to get out of my little chair-that-turns-into-a-bed-thing but I just remembered that I need to go grab the laundry in the dryer down the hall. I washed all the stuff he puked on. It was sick. I'm sure you can imagine.

Thanks again for all the love, prayers and support that we're still continuing to get! Love you all!!
